Elemental Phases

Packages so small
we can’t even see them
carried in thrall
by phases of medium.

Fire

Little tears in substance,
like paper cuts in skin,
rushing towards a middle,
starting at the ends.

Water

A single face
with endless impressions:
the shape in which it rests
there sits,
the very heart of concession.

Earth

Broken crystals,
piled and compounded,
until all their edges
are mostly rounded.

Air

Pockets and pillows
ostensibly there
as concert billows,
heave without care.
