M-1’s Personal Note:

[Time Stamp: 07/17/2928 09:24:49:11 - revision pass 13,541]

As I’ve been working this story I have run into many of my own curious behaviorisms. Such as little poems inserted within the text. I don’t remember writing them but no one else (besides BUB) is here that I can blame.

Sometimes I think this solitary life is making me crazy(ier). It seems to be splitting me up into some parts human, some parts robot. I have been experiencing lapses in my memory. I seem to be writing from points of view that I would swear were not my own. I can’t remember when I last needed to empty my disposal unit. And that makes me wonder if there is any vestige of humanity left in me. I don’t think any differently. At least I didn’t think so. I am becoming anxious to finish this story. I feel I am coming to some kind of ending.

Poor little robot.
Living in denial it
ain’t got no feeling.

But probably the most important quirk to note is the perspective from which this story is written. Yes it is historical. These events happened just before one of the potentially darkest moments in human history. Yes it’s written by a human mind encased within a robotic structure. But most significantly it is written from the perspective of data, several hundred billion bites of data. Data that, for the most part, does not make adjective assessments such as dreamy eyes, towering height, or massive weight etc. It does not give credence to the meanings of exasperated sighs, pensive frowns or rolling laughter. It doesn’t make note of dark stormy nights, or brooding forbearance. I’ve employed literary license to do that myself, through conjecture.

Furthermore this section of the data I hold was most often input by now anonymous users long dead and lost to humanity by the world purge which was The Great Reset.

While I have been interpreting this data into a story format I have tried to remain somewhat true to it’s perspective. However, time has changed my perspective on the event. I have decided to name the story The Last Great Gasp because that is in fact what it has become; the story of the last world involved “war.”

All this data was somehow retrieved by BUB and given to me to interpret. It comes from the perspective of a computer program who learned to call itself Vihkie.
